The Fabled Alchemist (“we”, “us” or “our”) operates this website. This notice explains how information is used when you visit The Fabled Alchemist or contact us. It describes the services currently used on this website.

Browsing and website hosting

Netlify hosts and delivers this website. Loading a page sends Netlify the requested address, your IP address and browser request information. These requests help deliver pages and handle security and access controls. The site’s geographic access filter uses country information supplied by Netlify and the browser’s user-agent header when deciding whether to serve a request.

Netlify explains its handling of information in its Privacy Statement and Data Processing Agreement .

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people visit, where visits come from and how readers use the site. The Google tag loads on the main website pages. Analytics can receive page addresses and titles, referring information, browser and device details, cookie identifiers and page-view activity. Requests to Google’s servers also include your IP address.

When you use an article’s sharing buttons, the site sends Google the selected platform and the page address. Analytics reports help us assess content and site usage.

Google signals and user-provided-data collection are disabled for our Analytics property. Detailed location and device collection is enabled. The property’s regional ads-personalization setting allows use in all supported regions. Actual use for advertising also depends on linked services, other settings and applicable consent requirements; this setting alone is not a record of a visitor’s consent. Our Analytics account enables aggregated, de-identified contributions for modeling and business insights, technical-support access, and recommendations for our business. The separate Google products and services data-sharing option is disabled. Google explains these options in its Analytics data-sharing guidance .

Cookies and browser choices

Google Analytics uses cookies, including _ga and _ga_9VX2T8YLK0, to distinguish browsers and maintain session information. Cookies may stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them. Blocking or deleting them affects future browser storage; it doesn’t automatically erase information already received by a service.

You can review, delete or block cookies in your browser settings and use the Analytics opt-out tool linked above. Our current site does not provide a cookie-preference banner. Third-party services may also use cookies or similar technologies, depending on their settings and your browser.

Article pages load Pinterest’s Save-button code. This creates requests to Pinterest before you choose to save an image. Pinterest receives request and activity information and handles it under its Privacy Policy .

Saving an article to Pinterest passes its page address, image address and description. Facebook and X sharing links pass the article address; X also receives its title. Visiting our social profiles or using these links takes you to those services, where their own privacy practices apply. The site does not load a Meta tracking pixel as part of these sharing links.

Google Fonts

Your browser loads fonts from Google’s servers. Font requests include your IP address, requested resource and browser headers. Google states that its Fonts API does not set or log cookies and does not use this information for targeted advertising. See the Google Fonts Privacy FAQ .

Some product links go to Amazon and contain an Associates tracking tag. If you follow one, Amazon can receive the link information and handle activity on its own website under its Privacy Notice . We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. Read our Affiliate Disclosure .

Messages you send us

We receive messages sent to thefabledalchemist10@gmail.com through Gmail. If you email us, we receive your email address, the message and any details you choose to include. Gmail and the email services involved process that correspondence. We use the information to respond to your question or request. Please avoid sending medical records, payment details or other sensitive information.

Retention and privacy requests

Our Analytics property is configured to retain event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. Resetting retention on new user activity is enabled: new activity can restart the retention period for that user’s identifier. These controls apply to the covered user-level and event-level data, rather than most standard aggregated reports. They do not set the lifetime of browser cookies or the retention of Gmail correspondence. See Google’s Analytics retention guidance .

The services described above handle different kinds of information, and their retention settings and policies differ. Browser cookies expire or can be deleted through your browser. Contact correspondence remains in the email service used to receive it. You can ask us about retention or request access, correction or deletion through Contact .

Depending on where you live and the information involved, privacy law may give you rights to access, correct or delete information, object to certain uses, or complain to a relevant privacy authority. A request to us does not automatically change information held independently by another service; its privacy policy explains how to contact it.

Providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Their linked notices describe their practices. This notice does not promise that all information stays in one country or that browsing is anonymous.
