This sage, honey and lemon vodka drink uses barrel-finished vodka, a one-to-one honey syrup, fresh lemon and three sage leaves, with one leaf reserved for garnish.

This version has no foam ingredient. The earlier six-to-eight-leaf, egg-white or aquafaba variation remains unverified. No independent TFA testing is claimed.

Use the measured quantities and preparation below; ingredient appearance does not establish yield.

Ingredients for one drink

  • 2.5 oz barrel-finished vodka
  • 1 oz honey syrup made with equal volumes honey and water
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3 fresh culinary sage leaves: 2 for mixing, 1 for garnish
  • Ice

Barrel-finished vodka gives the listed drink its character; neutral vodka produces a different flavor. Alcohol and herbs are ingredients here, not a focus, memory or mental-clarity treatment.

Make the syrup and measure a pour

Combine equal volumes honey and water in a securely closed jar and shake until dissolved. Measure one ounce of the finished syrup for the cocktail. Straight honey is not a one-ounce replacement for diluted syrup. No fixed batch yield or refrigerated shelf life is established here.

ChoiceWhat changes
1:1 honey syrupSupplies both honey and water in this formula
Straight honeyMore concentrated and not the specified ingredient
Another syrup strengthChanges sweetness; use its own complete formula
Egg white or aquafabaNot included in this recipe; the previous foam formula remains unverified

Mix with ice

Add the measured vodka, syrup and lemon with two sage leaves to a shaker containing ice. Shake for 10 seconds, strain into a coupe or martini glass, and garnish with the reserved leaf. Straining the leaves is a serving clarification; the liquid and sage quantities are listed above.

The three measured liquids total 4.5 oz before ice dilution. Choose a glass with space for dilution and headroom; this arithmetic is not a tested finished yield. A double portion should not be presented as the same serving.

Why the foam option is not offered here

The former egg-white and aquafaba options belonged to an unverified TFA variation. They are not added to this version.

For any separate cocktail that uses uncooked egg, FDA egg guidance recommends pasteurized eggs or egg products. Shaking with alcohol or citrus is not cooking. That guidance does not establish an egg or aquafaba amount for this drink.

Separate drink paths

For a different fresh-herb cocktail, use the basil gin smash , with its own citrus and syrup ratios. The lemon basil ginger spritzer is an alcohol-free culinary formula; it is not this sour with vodka simply removed.
